#MOZHI

 

On June 19, 2023, our association 'HESTIA' proudly organized a reading day program named "Mozhi," aimed at enhancing the reading and speaking skills of students. The event was inaugurated by Reghu Sir from the M.Ed department, setting an encouraging tone for the day ahead.

The program was structured as a competition divided into two engaging rounds. Before kicking off, we divided the students into five groups to foster teamwork and collaboration.

Round 1: Comprehension Challenge The first round was a comprehension challenge where each group was provided with an English passage. They had five minutes to read the passage carefully. After reading, we posed a couple of related questions to assess their precision and understanding. This round not only tested their reading skills but also encouraged critical thinking and teamwork.

Round 2: Malayalam Speaking Skills The second round shifted the focus to Malayalam speaking skills. Each group was required to have a member deliver a one-minute speech in Malayalam on a topic selected by lot. We added a twist to the selection process: each group would decide which member from another group would represent them. This unique approach kept everyone on their toes and fostered a sense of community among the participants. An important rule was that no English words could be used during the speeches, encouraging the students to immerse themselves fully in the Malayalam language.

After completing both sessions, we tallied the total marks for each group. However, there was an exciting twist—two groups ended up tied in points! To determine the ultimate winner, we introduced a third round.

Round 3: The Tongue Twister Challenge The final round was a tongue twister challenge that brought a light-hearted spirit to the competition. A member from each of the two tied groups came forward to draw a lot, and they had to repeat the chosen tongue twister ten times clearly. This round was filled with laughter and enjoyment, as participants and the audience alike cheered for their friends.

Overall, "Mozhi" was a successful and enjoyable program that not only improved the students' reading and speaking skills but also strengthened their confidence and camaraderie. The creativity in the format and the enthusiasm of the participants made it a memorable day for everyone involved!
